Frequently Asked Questions
What is WhealthWise?
WhealthWise is a money-leak finder. It scans your email receipts (read-only Gmail access, 12-month lookback) and cross-checks them against your bank transactions to surface forgotten subscriptions, price hikes, duplicate charges, and billing errors — with item-level purchase accuracy that bank-only apps can't provide.
Is WhealthWise free?
The free tier scans 12 months of Gmail receipts and shows your top three money leaks plus the total amount detected. Pro ($7.99/month or $79.99/year) unlocks the full leak list, alerts, bank sync via Plaid, and item-level accuracy. Premium ($14.99/month or $149.99/year) adds health-spending insights, fraud detection, and AI chat. Details on the pricing page.
Is it safe to connect my Gmail?
Gmail access is read-only — WhealthWise cannot send, delete, or modify email. The scan extracts purchase receipts and billing notices only. WhealthWise never sells your data, and you can disconnect Gmail or delete your account and its data at any time. Full details in the privacy policy.
How does WhealthWise find subscriptions I forgot about?
Every subscription sends billing emails. WhealthWise reads 12 months of receipts and renewal notices, so it finds subscriptions by direct evidence — the service name, plan, and price from the emails — rather than inferring them from repeating bank charges with cryptic merchant names. It also compares each receipt against that service's billing history to catch price increases. More in the guide.
How is WhealthWise different from Rocket Money or Monarch?
Rocket Money and Monarch detect subscriptions from bank transactions, which stop at the merchant name and amount. WhealthWise starts from email receipts, which contain the plan, price history, and individual line items — so it can split a $150 Target charge into its actual item categories and flag price hikes with the receipt as proof. WhealthWise does not offer bill negotiation; Rocket Money does. Full comparison: WhealthWise vs. Rocket Money.
Does WhealthWise sell my data?
No. WhealthWise never sells your data and does not share it — personally or in aggregate — without your explicit permission. Disconnecting an account only revokes access tokens; deleting your account removes your data.
What is fraud detection in WhealthWise?
On the Premium tier, WhealthWise matches your bank charges (via Plaid) against your email receipts within 24–48 hours. A charge with no matching receipt — or an amount that differs from the receipt by more than $0.50 — is flagged as a critical alert, catching billing errors and card fraud that transaction-only apps miss.
Can WhealthWise track what I buy on Amazon item by item?
Yes for most purchases: Amazon order confirmation emails contain line items, and WhealthWise extracts them so your Amazon spending is broken down by actual products and categories instead of a single "Amazon" lump sum. See how email-receipt tracking works.
